Research indicates that providing early interventions is critical in reducing the long-term effects of victimization among youth (Public Safety Canada, 2022). Providing increased services is critical in strengthening communities to become safer places. o Problem / Need Description: Youth exposure to violence is a major concern for the health and welfare of society as a whole. There is a strong correlation between victimization among young people and the long-term effects on mental health, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). There are systemic barriers for young people, including stigma, lack of culturally sensitive resources, and lack of awareness about available resources. The resources available to young people are inadequate to cover the increasing number of young people who are victims of violence, especially in urban areas. If young people do not receive timely intervention, they are at a higher risk of re-victimization, dropping out of school, and entering the criminal justice system. Therefore, more resources should be made available for young people who are victims of violence o Objective of Funding: Increased service utilization. Improved skills in emotional management and coping. Increased awareness of support systems. long term Reduced re-victimization. Improved life outcomes. Increased community resilience. o Evaluation Plan: Added as an image o Budget: 25,000 $
