AUTORING - SECURE LIVING SOLUTION Introduction This project presents a straightforward yet effective electric circuit designed to enhance safety. By detecting motion in its vicinity, the PIR sensor activates the transistor, which in turn energizes the buzzer, providing an audible alert in potentially unsafe situations. With its versatile applications in various environments, ranging from residential settings and playgrounds to industrial sites and restricted areas, this safety device not only serves as a proactive security measure but also contributes to peace of mind for users. Having successfully completed the project, we look forward to demonstrating its practical applicability and effectiveness in real-world scenarios. Objectives • To design a cost-effective safety device that can alert individuals to potential hazards or unauthorized access. • To utilize a simple electrical circuit that is easy to assemble and maintain. • To provide a versatile solution applicable in various safety-sensitive scenarios. Components 1. PIR Motion Sensor: Detects motion based on infrared light emitted by objects in its field of vision, providing real-time alerts when movement is detected. 2. BC 547 Transistor: Acts as a switch in the circuit, amplifying the signal from the PIR sensor to activate the buzzer. 3. Buzzer: Emits an audible sound when triggered, alerting individuals to the presence of movement or potential hazards. 4. 220-ohm Resistor: Used to limit the current flowing through the circuit, protecting the components from damage. 5. 9-Volt Battery Terminals: Powers the electronic components, ensuring reliable operation of the device. Working Mechanism: 1. Motion Detection: • The PIR sensor continuously monitors its surroundings. • When it detects motion, it sends a high signal to the base of the transistor. 2. Transistor Activation: • The high signal from the PIR sensor turns the transistor ON. • This allows current to flow from the power supply, through the resistor, and into the buzzer. 3. Buzzer Sounding: • The current flowing through the buzzer causes it to vibrate and produce a sound, effectively acting as a doorbell. 4. Motion Cessation: • Once the motion stops, the PIR sensor's output returns to low. • The transistor turns OFF, and the buzzer stops sounding. Applications 1. Child Safety: Alerts parents if a child approaches a balcony edge or hazardous areas, reducing the risk of accidents. 2. Security: Detects unauthorized entry in military or restricted zones, enhancing security measures. 3. Kitchen Safety: Notifies caregivers when a child interacts with potentially dangerous objects in the kitchen. 4. Elderly Monitoring: Provides automatic alerts if elderly individuals distance themselves from safe zones at home. 5. Playground Safety: Warns caregivers when children stray beyond set boundaries in playgrounds. 6. Pet Safety: Offers an early warning system to prevent pets from escaping or accessing dangerous areas at home. 7. Industrial Safety: Alerts personnel to nearby hazards or unauthorized access in industrial settings. Benefits Cost-Effectiveness: The use of readily available and inexpensive components results in a low-cost safety solution. Ease of Assembly: The straightforward design allows individuals with basic electronics knowledge to build and maintain the device. Versatility: The device can be adapted for multiple use cases, enhancing safety across different environments. Conclusion The development of the cost-effective safety device with a sensor and buzzer presents an innovative solution to enhance safety and security in various contexts. By leveraging simple electronic components and a straightforward design, the project aims to promote safer environments for children, elderly individuals, pets, and industrial workers. The project will contribute significantly to the area of personal and public safety, offering practical applications that can be readily implemented.
