For this activity, you will search for your favorite real photographs of spiral, elliptical, and irregular galaxies. You will compare and contrast aspects of each galaxy by creating either a Venn diagram on poster board or a slide presentation (of at least seven slides) using a presentation software of your choice. The way you choose to display your information is completely up to you. Your presentation must include: Three images of each type of galaxy: Spiral Elliptical Irregular At least four facts about each type of galaxy At least one similarity and one difference between the following galaxy pairs: Spiral and Elliptical Spiral and Irregular Elliptical and Irregular Step 1: Find Pictures of Galaxies Collect three pictures each of spiral galaxies, elliptical galaxies, and irregular galaxies. As you search, note any text around the pictures (i.e., labels, keys, etc.) Make sure you understand everything well and consider which words you’ll put on or around the images in your presentation. Depending on which presentation type you choose in Step 2, your images can either be printed off or downloaded onto your computer, but make sure you label which ones are which to keep them straight. Step 2: Decide on a Presentation Style You have two options on how to present your information. You can either choose to create a poster board with a Venn diagram or a slide presentation of at least seven slides. Step 3: Compile Your Poster or Presentation No matter which presentation type you chose, make sure to keep your photos of each classification of galaxy together, and display each of them along with at least four facts about each type of galaxy. When you compare/contrast the pairs of galaxies, you may choose to compare/contrast each pair on different slides (or, if making a poster, everything will be on the one piece of poster board).
